About

Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan is a graduate seminary located near Johnson City, Tennessee, in the heart of the spectacular Blue Ridge Mountains. Established in 1965, the school seeks to fulfill the mission of the Church by preparing men and women for effective ministry.

At Emmanuel, we’re committed to the lordship of Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, and the vision of Christian unity arising from the work of such thinkers as Thomas and Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone. Though students from a variety of denominational backgrounds come to study at Emmanuel Christian Seminary, the school has a relationship with churches of the Stone-Campbell Tradition (Disciples of Christ; Christian Churches/Churches of Christ; and Church of Christ).

Our graduates go on to work in a variety of ministries, including preaching, pastoral care, Christian education, campus ministry, hospital and military chaplaincy, and cross-cultural missions. In order to provide our students with the best possible preparation for any ministry experience, we have assembled an outstanding faculty. The Emmanuel Village helps to create a deep sense of community and mutual support. Our chapel has services to provide spiritual refreshment as well as experience in leading worship. At Emmanuel, we believe a good ministerial preparation needs to touch every aspect of life.

Emmanuel offers four degrees in order to help our students learn to become effective ministers of the Gospel: Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Religion, Master of Arts in Christian Ministries, and Doctor of Ministry.
